If you look closely you can see that the word friday is an anagram for cocktail.
Just kidding, but drink up anyways.
It’s time for the weekly friday cocktail and tonight it is the less known Negroni.
Not much is known about it other than it was probably invented in Florence, Italy in the year 1919. Count Camillo Negroni asked the barteneder at his bar to strenghten his favorite cocktail, “The Americano” and add gin instead of soda water. The bartender did so and added a piece of orange peel instead of lemon to signify that it was in fact a different drink. The Negroni family then went on to produce a ready-made version of the drink because they liked it so much.
Now it’s your turn.
- One part gin
- One part Vermouth Rosso (red)
- One part bitters, most preferred is Campari
Serve it on the rocks in a standard glass and pour it over the ice. Add the lemon peel for garnish.
