Where do you get your leather shoes from?
Italy, France or maybe USA?
Doesn’t matter anymore because unless they are from Ghana we are not interested.
Okay we’ll be interested, just a not as much.
Back to Ghana -> Introducing Heel The World, a shoe manufacturing startup in…(you guessed it)…Ghana, Africa.
Five years ago Fred Deegbe stood outside a shop admiring a pair of shoes he just bought. He wondered if ever he could ever buy such beautiful shoes that were made in his home country Ghana. Everybody he asked said it would be impossible. But he didn’t give up on the dream. He worked as a banker but started the business in his free time outside work. He contacted a friend that could help him make this possible and the adventure began.
They bought necessary machines and stored it temporarily in his parents garage. The only problem was that they had to start manufacturing sooner than they thought and the temporary location became permanent.
The material needed to make these great looking shoes is imported from the USA and Italy. But what defines these shoes from many other brands is the fact that they are handmade by five very skilled Ghanaians. In our opinion you can’t get any more unique than that.
The only downside is that because of the cost of importing everything, each pair costs around $200-$400.
But for these shoes it’s worth it.
